CARRIERS

Do you know if your operation is subject to commercial motor vehicle rules and regulations in your state? Do you know what GVWR or GCWR are? If not, call us today!

New Entrant Safety Audits are required for all carriers who operate commercial motor vehicles.  A Safety Audit is a review of a motor carrier’s records designed to verify that a carrier has basic safety management controls in place to ensure compliance with applicable Federal Motor Carrier Safety Regulations (FMCSRs), Hazardous Materials Regulations (HMRs), and related record-keeping requirements.  The audit is conducted by an FMCSA-certified auditor at the carrier’s place of business, or electronically, by submitting relevant documents to FMCSA online or via mail or fax.  During the Safety Audit, carriers will be asked to submit documentation which verifies that they have established effective safety management controls.  Auditors amy request documents related to drivers and vehicles, as well as general operating procedures and record-keeping requirements.

Carriers will be notified of all violations found during a Safety Audit and provided with an explanation of how to address their safety problems.  Some violations are deemed egregious enough to cause the carrier to automatically fail the Safety Audit.

Automatic Failure Violations are:

Alcohol and Drug Violations

Our New Entrant Safety Audits ensure strict adherence to alcohol and controlled substances regulations, including mandatory testing programs and a zero-tolerance policy for drivers who refuse testing or are found to have an alcohol concentration of 0.04 or greater. We also impose strict measures against the use of drivers who have tested positive for controlled substances or have attempted to alter or substitute test results.

Driver & Operator Violations

Our New Entrant Safety Audits strictly evaluate driver and operator violations, ensuring only drivers with valid drivers licenses or Commercial Driver’s Licenses (CDL), appropriate medical qualifications, and adherence to hours-of-service records are employed. Additionally, we diligently enforce the requirement of appropriate insurance levels for all vehicles in operation.

Repairs and Inspections

We ensure that no vehicle declared out-of-service due to safety deficiencies is operated before necessary repairs are made. We also rigorously enforce the completion of all repairs reported in driver-vehicle inspection reports (DVIRs) and the annual inspection of every motor vehicle in operation.
